WHO WE ARE

The Diocesan Institute for Clergy Support (IDSC) in Lecce, in full tune with local Diocese and in order to present to Catholic people an instrument of more actual apostolic mission, wanted to build – with the use of financial support got back by some closed religious corporations – two fine buildings taking aim at clergymen and above all families and travellers, in order to put they up for week-end, holidays, professional visits, stages, and so on. Those two buildings, set in a green place and located just at the entrance of the new Archiepiscopal Seminary, were inaugurated all together with the New Seminary on the 18th September 1994 by Pope Paul II during His special visit.

The former building, PASTOR BONUS HOUSE, consists in a holiday house (hotel) open the whole year. It is equipped for families and groups and its run outside the common tourist routes, with the mission to promote social, cultural, sports and religious activities. The House is open to everybody. To its management take care an association of young people, “Domus Mariae”, who look after the reception (also at night), the housework, the running of the café service, the green garden and the cuisine. In the House there is a canteen service with fixed menu included drinks. It is also possible to arrange a regional or national menu for groups.

The latter building, IDSC property, consists in a lot of self-contained flats each of them furnished and air conditioned, equipped with telephone, TV set, bed and bathroom linen, kitchen and table ware. They are let with different period rents (weekly-fortnightly, monthly and so on) and with different kinds of arrangement with one, two and three/four bedrooms. The IDSC is administrated by a Board of Directors, audited by a Controller Committee whose members are appointed by the Diocesan Curia every five years.

The President of the Board is Mons. Benedetto Bisconti (the founder of the House). The Accounting Coordinator is Mr. Carmelo Quaranta, the appointee to the Pastor Bonus House direction is Mr. Giuseppe Mello.
